the bag I made that I hate and other stuff in the works

This turned out really dumb and it's hard to get into so I'm making a new one with even cuter fabric.
I love an excuse to buy fabric.

Jess picked this fabric for Ariel's blanket

it's so cozy on the back and has a little hand sewn binding

this is a quilt I bought at an estate sale her in Madison. It is from Northern Wisconsin found in the trunk of the home owners Mother-in-law in the farm house. 

Every stitch is hand done It is not finished so I will probably put a border and binding on it. Paula says I shouldn't put batting in it and just make little tiny stitches here and there to tack it to the back. It can be a  summer blanket

Kate's Halloween Table Cloth for her table. She picked out the material for this one too.

I found this fabric at Hobby Lobby and just Had to make new pillows.

We are slowly getting there

We covered this old floral chair with this fun Moda Fabric, we got it Red Tag like $3 a yard We went back to get more for the ottoman and it was all gone....

Luckily I had this fun fabric my cute sis-in-law gave me so we covered this old ottoman

I found these chairs at the Antique Mall here in town. They also had a red one but we'll have to make one later.

They had these old Wisconsin grain sacks so I got two of them and made....

Curtains

I finished Kate's blanket in a Red Polka Dot binding. It was so fun. I gave it to her while she was in bed and she said, "Mom I waited so long for you to make this." Meaning the 5 months it took me to hand quilt it.

Remember the Barn Wood?

Spencer is a genius and he made me a frame out of that old barn wood I "Borrowed" from the torn down barn here is Wisconsin.

I was going through my fabric and pulled out a real treasure. My Grandma on my Mom's side is amazing at sewing and needlework. She learned from her mother who learned from her Pioneer mother. When we visited my grandma this spring she gave me a stash of fabric, some polyester, and some true vintage pieces from the 40's and 50's. My Great Grandma started these stars for a quilt all hand-done. My aunt was in town and I told her about it, she said it wasn't her mom's but must have been Grandma's mother's. I couldn't stop staring at it and wondered how I was lucky enough to get to have this piece, litteraly, of my great grandmother.

I love how you can find replica fabric like this now. The barn wood came within inches of the exact size of the stars. It was meant to be!!!!

I'm HOOKED!

My darling Mexican neighbor Eugenia has been teaching me to crochet and I LOVE it!!!! She doesn't speak much English and I don't speak a lot of Spanish but we have fun sitting on the porch ganchillo-ing. I feel like quilting and crocheting are very calming. My mind has been so busy with so many thoughts lately and this calms me so much! It is a great anti-anxiety medicine.


This is a headband I made for my Sister-in-laws graduation gift.
The green one is a little rug I made for the girls barbies. It was my practice for the large rug I'm going to make. The purple on is part of a quilt I'm going to replicate of Spencer's great grandmothers.
The top is the bootie I bought and the bottom is the bootie Eugenia is teaching me to replicate.
A fun color flower for Kate's winter hat (Wendy Hunter made for both my babies when they were born).
Her it is...................my sister Jenny's Mother's Day present. She is such a mother to me. I decided to start giving her Mother's day gifts this year. The fabric I've been dying to get and use but it was a little pricey, I found a remnant at 50% and came home, fished through our grandma's old fabric she gave me (The real Vintage stuff you can buy replicated) and there was this perfect Grosgrain fabric-pastel tiny roses with little polka dots....It was screaming Jenny's name. FUN FUN FUN

We saw a darling butterfly garden in a toyshop. We got some butterflies and came home and made one over Jess's tiny bed. She says, "Goodnight Butterflies."


I"m making gifts for my Mom and Mother-in-Law and something special for Eugenia and a b-day gift for my sister (she asked for an apron)..... Keep a watch out. ciao

I love this quote. I love to make these blankets and I love how the girls still want them and love them and get excited when the come out of the dryer all warm and soft from the fabric softener.

Kate's Ticker Tape Quilt! I had to unpick about a quarter of the back because my basting was off. She loves to pick out the squares she recognizes "that's from my cowboy blankie, that's from Jess's baby blankie, that's from Grandma Stonebrakers house etc. etc."

It was fun to get brave with the machine.
